Embeding youtube videos into your blog is very easy. Simply go to the video on youtube whihc you cant to embed, click on the share button underneath the video and click on the blogger icon and your done!

Above is a helpful video on how to add a flickr badge onto your blog..

Tutorial seven! assistive technology..

"Technology meant to provide help in performing a task, whether general or specific. Assistive technology for the web includes braille keyboards, audio browsers which read web pages, or alternative entry devices such as a mouth-stick." (www.joedolson.com/glossary.php)

Describe one piece of equipment introduced in the assistive technology tutorial. Provide information on size, cost and functions.

A piece of assistive technology which liked during this tutorial was the countdown timer. The timer was the size or a normal wall clock, relatively inexpensive and provided a visual representation on the amount of time passing rather than just numbers.

The idea of understanding numbers and time are very difficult concept to grasp for people with diagnoses such as autism. the timer increases peoples functional capacity by enabling them to have some understanding of time and what it is.

Online Communities!!

The community i am going to focus on is Facebook (www.facebook.com)

What is the brief or focus of this community, what are their services? How can people contribute?
According to their website "Facebook's mission is to give people the power to share and make the world more open and connected.

Millions of people use Facebook everyday to keep up with friends, upload an unlimited number of photos, share links and videos, and learn more about the people they meet."

I think people contribute and sign up to facebook because they have a need to feel connected and 'in the loop'. it is a social norm in today's world to have at least one social networking page.

"C4 Video Hits Miley Cyrus vs Taylor Swift equals awesome!" This is a topic posted by one of my friends that is being discussed on facebook. There are many random topics such as these on facebook.

Facebook raises many potential ethical issues such as lack of accountability, information theft. People are able to upload any images, including ones which have been taken without permission from the subject. Images are easily copied and stolen off the site and may be distributed without the uploader or subject knowing.

For me facebook provides an essential link to my friends overseas. It is redefining the idea of a community. Facebook completely removes any geographic boundaries and even language barriers.

The one thing facebook can not provide is the sense of family or togetherness you may get from a face to face traditional community.

Tutorail Task Three..blogging!

Blogger.com
Great! So what is it?
Blogger is a website which offers people an outlet through which to share your thoughts with the world. You can also develop 'communities' by 'following' other peoples blogs. You can also leave comments on other peoples blogs and subscribe to your favourite blogs which means you get notified any time a new post is added. Blogger.com is probably the largest of many 'blog' websites. An exapmle of these 'blog'ish sites is www.Squarespace.com
